Synthetic sports pitches are an essential part of our everyday lives. They can be used in almost all weather conditions and without them it would be impossible to maintain a comprehensive training, match and competition programme.
However, there is one serious disadvantage: sports facilities made from synthetic materials release significant quantities of microplastics.
The tiny plastic solids also release harmful substances such as stabilisers, softeners and PFAS, so-called eternal chemicals, into the environment. They make synthetic functional flooring water and dirt repellent, non-slip and durable, but are extremely long-lasting and accumulate in the environment and living organisms.
To operate sports facilities sustainably, it is essential to stop microplastic pollution at the source to protect our health and ecosystems.
We develop customised product solutions for relevant sources of microplastics in sports facilities that are tailored to the location, type and quantity of microplastics. We aim to measurably reduce the outcome of microplastics while optimising the cost-benefit ratio.
Our solutions include a range of easy-to-implement recommendations for action to reduce the microplastics from sports facilities – from protective measures against wind drift to patented filter systems.

The GUPPYFRIEND Washing Bag is our solution to stop microplastics for sports laundry at home. For local authorities and clubs with industrial washing machines and dryers, we offer external washing machine filter systems and exhaust air filters. This allows microfibres to be reliably retained.
